Mourka was a foundling cat and lucky to be alive. Between bombings and a famine he’d used up eight of his nine lives. Pudding was unwanted, was put up for adoption, and became a hero. Ringo, also adopted, saved his humans and won a medal. But all three of these cats, and many others, saved people’s lives.

“Tales for Cats” tells the incredible true stories of hero cats throughout history. Read about Tommy who dialed 911, Black Dinah who leaped on a scorpion to save her humans, and two cats who battled bears. The book is filled with photos, as well.

Kirkpatrick has loved cats her entire life. Growing up, she sometimes felt that her only friend was her family cat, and she cherishes cats for their ability to recognize when humans are most in need. She wrote this book to give cats the praise they rarely receive.

A portion of the proceeds of book sales will be donated to humane societies.

A graduate of the University of Miami, where she majored in English, Kirkpatrick has had a varied career. She has worked for the Pentagon, for Medishare in Haiti, and been the Executive Director for a nonprofit focused with ending human trafficking.
